I’m an artist who happens to be a designer. Sometimes I am a painter and my palette is the room, or has nature as the backdrop. When I am a sculptor or a glass blower, my tools are my own inspiration along with those of my client because art is collaborative. My art tool box is vast and ever-changing – just like life, and just like my many different artistic personifications. It’s about the venue and definitely the details.

My family are all culinarians, and combining that love of food as art, along with managing a country club for 25 years, has shaped my innate ability to pair events and food. Then, of course, lighting, movement, color, texture, and evoked emotion – they all play their part in successful design. When you add in fond memories...WOW!...now I know I’ve been able to tap into something pretty special.

For me, it’s definitely about the granular details. Nothing is right until I feel that I’ve refined the finished product in a way that it creates the experience....and the “feeling” I am after. I only truly know it, when I’ve arrived in that space, and it’s perfect. This has been evident with me throughout my life and even during my formal education when achieving my degree in Industrial Design. 

Maya Angelou said it best: “I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.”
